For the love of humanity: Cake Balls

  1. Bake any flavor cake mix per box directions in a 9x13 pan (example: German chocolate)
  2. Let it cool COMPLETELY, then break into bits in a mixing bowl. Use your hands! Get 'em dirty!
  3. Mix/mush in one tub of any flavor frosting (example: caramel/coconut/pecan)
  4. Form into balls about the size of donut holes; arrange on a wax paper-covered cookie sheet. (PSA: smaller balls are better)
  5. Place in freezer for 1-2 hours, until balls are firmly set.
  6. Melt one bag of baking chips over low heat on stove; add shortening as needed for appropriate dipping consistency. (example: semi-sweet chocolate chips)
  7. Skewer each ball with a kebob rod (or toothpick) and dip into melted chocolate, coating thoroughly.
  8. Store in refrigerator. If they last long enough to be stored.
