Gobble Gobble

I finally remembered to bring a camera with me to Shae's last gymnastics class of the year. Better than nothin', right?
I did neglect to take any photos on Thanksgiving itself, but nothing major was missed -- Shae still refused to eat any actual Thanksgiving food, and had a major meltdown mid-meal. Yay! We went up to the mountains the day after for some sledding and swimming fun. Lots of posing.
With Baba:
With Aunt Amy:
With mama:
As a family:
So right out of the gate, mama took Shae all the way to the top of the sledding hill, climbed into the sled with her, and went gunning down the hill at full speed. All was well and good (laughter galore!) until I put my feet in the snow to slow us down, and Shae got a face-ful of snow spray. Not cool when it's only 17 degrees outside. So that was the end of that. Gramma saved the day, though, by convincing her to walk just a *little* ways up the hill and sledding from there.
Post-sled visit to the Breckenridge Brewery to warm up. Shae takes over the camera...
Mucho adorableness.
We got home from the hills and decided it was time to get festive. Naked tree:
Turkey with naked tree (go Broncos!):
Turkey with geared out tree (go Broncos!):
Shae discovered the quivering reindeer in the box of Christmas decorations. New best friends. (Please note: approximately 10 seconds after this photo was taken the tree fell over. Yay!)
Oh, and a sledding video. Someday I'll learn to put videos in the middle of the theme where they belong... but today is not that day.
Here's to the holiday season! Cheers!

Halloweeeeeeeen!

Shae's daycare had their annual Harvest Party (Christian daycare = no "Halloween"... lame) on Friday, Oct.28. Shae, per her request, was a purple fairy princess -- heavy emphasis on the "purple." One of her classmates' parents hired a face painter to come in and decorate the children; Shae selected a butterfly to compliment her purpleness. Pretty cool!

On Saturday, Oct.29, Taylor invited Shae to go to church with her for a "trunk-or-treat." So mama tried to re-create the face butterfly. Not NEARLY as cool, but I tried my best!
Two pretty princesses!

Continuing the Halloween-palooza celebrations: Sunday was pumpkin carving day. Shae supervises while Jody cuts.

Bored with supervising, Shae tells a story. (Nowadays her stories all begin with "So as you can see here...")

Finished products -- from left to right: Shae's silly face, Dad's vamipre-y scary face, and Mom's albino happy face.

Finally the big night! Jody takes Shae trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. She was totally on board with the idea of knocking on someone's door, saying "trick or treat!" and then they give her CANDY. Now we face the daunting task of convincing her that schtick only works one day out of the year...
