First the camera stops working...

...then the blog site stops working! Seriously: I tried to post something two weeks ago and it wouldn't let me publish. Granted then I forgot about it for two weeks...but I'm not entirely to blame!
So let's pick up where we left off, shall we? IT'S SUMMER!! Summer means:
Play dates in the park!

Zoey in a Cone of Shame! (Okay that has nothing to do with summer, but rather having a questionable-looking growth removed from her face. She had to wear this thing for two weeks! Our calves and achilles tendons are all very grateful that she finally got the darn thing off this morning.)

Bike rides! With Gramma and Baba!

Outdoor festivals in the mountains! With face paint! And food! And beer! (That last part is mama's cheer, not Shae's.)
And baseball games! Happy Father's Day!
And free concerts in the park -- what a perfect excuse for a picnic dinner!

And coloring alfresco!

And running through the sprinkler!

And birthday parties galore!

And finding a local park with a water feature to cool down on a 87-degree afternoon!
That's what summer means around here, anyway. :-)

Riddle: What's a photo blog without a camera?

Defunct. I guess that's less of a riddle and more of a plain 'ol Q&A, but it's still true. Sigh.

So I downloaded some of my phone photos to fill the void in the short-term. Except I loaded them backwards, so the most recent are showing first. WHATEVER.

Shae got to jump on Keeley and Taylor's trampoline during our Memorial Day BBQ. She thought it was the coolest. thing. ever.

Checkin' out Uncle Buddy's new boat. The thing could basically get you from Miami to Cuba in 20 minutes flat, but it will be a blast (pun intended!) on our puny Colorado ponds all summer long!

Rockin' the two piggies on a Friday. Woot woot!

Logging some serious park time before the afternoon storm clouds build up.

Shae and mama at the dog park with Zoey. This was kind of a semi-excuse to snap a photo of my new haircut. I'm not crazy about it, but it's growing on me. (Pun intended again! Man, I am on fire!!)

There's a statue of a boy and his dog at the park. I asked Shae to stand by it so I could take a photo of her, and she happily obliged. Then she figured out that the statue kid is the same height as her and now they're BFFs.

(She initiated the hugging without any prompting from me. LOL)

Now that warm weather is here again, the slide made its way from the basement to its proper place in the back yard. Let the sliding begin!

I promise to get our camera fixed ASAP. I promise.

Shae's First Haircut

It was actually last week's photos of Shae with her friend Quinny that made me fully realize how scraggly her little mullet had gotten. Afte hemming and hawing about it for a week, I decided it's time to bite the bullet and take Shae for her first-ever haircut.

As my dear friend Beau asked yesterday, "is it naive of me to have assumed that she had already had her first-ever haircut?" No, not at all. At 2.5-years-old, one would assume this milestone is far behind us. But let's remember this poor child really didn't have any hair at all until about 18 months -- just scroll back through this blog if you don't want to take my word for it!

Anyway, we went to a kid-friendly salon for the cut. Shae got to pick her chair; she chose the red fire truck.
I expected whining, hesitation, possibly a tantrum -- why should this event be any different than an average Monday afternoon? But the hairdresser turned on Toy Story 3 and Shae was as peaceful and content as could be.

She really dug the cape -- she was Wonder Woman!

After a quick spray down, it was time to get busy on the mullet.

Shae alternated between watching in the mirror and watching the movie. Brilliant set-up, I tell ya.

Such a cooperative little girl (when she wants to be)!

"Yes, mama. I'm doing fine. Cheese!"

Almost finished! It's amazing what the promise of a lollipop will do.

Finishing touches. We learned a cute flippy piggytail trick, too.

Just like Dora the Explorer!

Final touch was a little spritz of glitter in her hair.

And just like that, with a few snips of a scissors, my baby has turned into a little girl. (sob)

But a beatiful little girl she is! Adios, mullet!

Springtime Fun Time

First let me start by saying that I dropped the camera (again) and now I can't get it to properly turn on. Oops! So we might have a slight hiatus from photos for a while... I did take some Easter videos though, so as soon as I can find the cables to download those off the video camera, we might be cooking with gas! Sigh.

Shae had a Saturday morning play date with her daycare BFF, Quinlin. The girls enjoyed playing together at the park, feeding the ducks, then sitting down together for a refreshing snack. Have you ever tried to get two two-year-olds to look at the camera at the same time? It's not as easy as you might think!

As long as the sun is shining, Shae is outside playing. She's all about bubbles right now. All. About. Bubbles.

Taking a break from the bubbles for a moment to do some dancing. As she often tells me: shake it! Shake your bootie!

Back to the bubbles.

We took a family walk to our neighborhood park. Shae has become a maniac on the park, and nothing is too tall, too steep or to scary for her to try at least once. What a big girl!

It really was an all-family outing -- Zoey got to go play at the park, too!

You'll have to keep an eye on Facebook for photos for a little bit -- at least there I can upload the low-quality ones from my phone.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!
