Fabulous Fall Fun
Sometimes Shae's emotion can turn on a dime. Example: playing with her barnyard animals (a birthday present from Uncle Brian, Aunt Chris, Keeley and Taylor). Two days ago they were fine. This time, not so much.
Hey, mama. Just checkin' out the back yard.

Shae Turns One!
To my credit I'm not entirely a slacker -- my computer (or internet connection) have not been cooperative -- but it has been a while since we've posted some photos... so let's get started!
Shae's most favoritest thing nowadays is standing up. She still requires some kind of assistance (a table, a chair, a wall, etc.), but she's *thisclose* to being on the go-go-go. She loves to shimmy over to the back door when the dogs are outside and knock on the window. Considerate gal she is.
First birthday card received from Grams and Gramps!
Hehe. Birthdays are fun!
Awesome card, Grams and Gramps -- thanks!
First birthday present from Aunt Peg, Uncle Mike and Maggie!
Kiss-kiss for the prezzy!
Back off, mama -- I can do this unwrapping thing myself!
Pretty new gear -- thanks!
See the aforementioned comment about standing up. The fridge is a favorite practice area.
Birthday party madness! Shae was a little unsure about her hat...
...but then cake arrived!
Dude. That's CAKE!
O lovely chocolate cake, how I love thee.
Chocolate cake and milk... is there anything better?
Nom nom nom.
The face of happiness.
Time for presents! Shae started out very interested an engaged in the process...
What in the world is in there?!

12-month check-up
What a big girl Shae is on the eve of her first birthday! (Not literally, but you know what I mean...) Our 12-month well baby doctor's appointment today tells us that Shae is 22 lbs. 6 oz. (74th percentile); she is 30.35 inches long (taller than 94% of the kids her age!); and her noggin is 18.25" around (85th percentile -- thanks to the Wrabetz genes for that one). She is happy and healthy and thriving, and she took her shots like a champ. Yay Shae!
As evidenced by her "Big Girl" status, Shae loves to feed herself. She's getting the concept of the spoon, but the execution is still a little lacking. Try, try again -- practice makes perfect!

As we have learned in the past few weeks, it is highly unlikely that Shae is ever going to properly crawl -- she would much rather scoot on her butt with her legs sawing in a crab-like motion (which I will try to catch on video for those of you in far-flung locations -- it's really something to behold!). She is, however, all about standing up nowadays -- Jody and I figure it's only a matter of time before she figures out how to take that first step and then she will be GONE!
Practicing standing at the living room table:
Practicing standing at the living room table:
The infamous "Shae point."
"Hey mama!"
"Mama, you tell the **funniest** jokes!"
Yeah? Well up yer nose with a rubber hose!
"Mama, not only are you funny but also VERY interesting. Tell me more."
One gratuitous non-Shae photo -- they really do happen sometimes! Go Broncos!
