In case anyone was wondering, this is what Mom does during the day while not working! Apologies in advance for the low quality and for the lack of action, but it is what it is: Shae's first foray into the land of digital video!

Six-week photoshoot

Indulge me... I get chastised for not posting photos of Shae frequently enough, and for that I apologize. To appease the masses, I'm going for single-post volume on this one: today is Shae's six-week birthday (anniversary?), so we had a little photoshoot this morning. Set to the tune of Billy Ocean's "Get Outta My Dreams and Into My Car" (we love 80's party music!), here we go... If you scroll fast, you can see Shae dancing!

So Big!: Two Examples

As Shae reaches that all-important age milestone (5 weeks!), we've managed to capture two indicators of just how big our little girl is getting. And, let's be honest: they're just cute photos!

Example A: Shae is holding her head up like a champ every chance she gets. It gets a little treacherous when she decides to throw in a wonky squirm whilst viewing the world from her semi-upright position, but we haven't lost a hold on her yet! (Yet...)


Example B: Waaaaaaay back in the summertime, Gramma and Grampa W gave the yet-unmet Shae a Pooh hat to wear in inclement weather. When she was super-fresh and going home from the hospital, we tried to put said Pooh hat on for the journey home, but her tiny little noggin wasn't having it. As of yesterday, however, the Pooh hat is the new toque of choice!

The Life of Shae

Likes:

• My swing
• My bouncy chair
• My carseat (regardless of whether or not it's in a moving car... but I like that, too)
• Eating
• Being rocked, held or otherwise loved
• My changing table
• Baths

Dislikes:

• 7 p.m.
• Eating quickly
• Dad's beard
• Being ignored (I won't stand for it!)
  

Angel in the Morning

How is it that a little nightime demon who only sleeps from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. and then 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., screeching all the time betwixt, can be such a beautiful little morning angel? Alert, wiggly, enjoying a bath... It's a mystery!

Happy Halloween!

It will probably be the topic of many future therapy sessions and I already feel like a horrible mother because of it, but Shae's first Halloween (at 18 days old) is costumeless. I know, I know... the sacrelidge! She did, however, get a bat hat and is dressed appropriately in orange and black. That's got to count for something, right?

How come no one ever mentioned the sweating?

Postpartum life is a wonderland of hormones, bodily fluids, exhaustion, elation, frustration and little victories -- and every moment is a blessing, for sure. (Something I try to remind myself of -- sometimes outloud in a mantra-like chant -- at 3 a.m.)
